SSH and your config
Everything MiniControl does goes through your system ssh, so ~/.ssh/config, the ssh agent and Tailscale names all just work.
Add a Mac by SSH
Section titled “Add a Mac by SSH”Open the panel and click Add Machine…:
- Connect to a Mac that already takes
ssh <host>with a key. MiniControl logs in once and fills in the rest: name, account, icon, a home-network fallback, the services to show, and where your git repos live. If it can’t connect, it says why and what to run. - Set Up a New Mac: turn on Remote Login on it (System Settings → General → Sharing). It shows up over Bonjour. Open Terminal to Sign In copies this Mac’s key with
ssh-copy-id, asking the other Mac’s password once.
Every server runs MiniControl itself; the first Server Setup step copies this Mac’s app over and starts it.
Your config file
Section titled “Your config file”Settings are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/MiniControl/config.json. You can edit it by hand; the app reloads it when you save. MiniControl --validate-config checks it.
