Install
MiniControl runs on macOS 15 or later, on Apple silicon. Intel Macs are supported on a best-effort basis: the app is universal, but it hasn’t been tested on a real Intel Mac.
Getting the app
Section titled “Getting the app”The first public build opens with early access. It’s signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized, so it opens like any app you download. Get early access and you’ll get one email when it’s ready.
Install it on every Mac
Section titled “Install it on every Mac”Put MiniControl in Applications on the server and on each Mac you’ll control it from. It lives in the menu bar and starts at login.
The first time it opens, it asks what this Mac is:
- This Mac is a server. It opens Server Setup and waits for your other Macs to pair.
- Control my Macs. It looks for servers at home and over Tailscale, and offers to pair.
A Mac can be both: the Mac mini in the cupboard can also control a second server.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”MiniControl updates itself. Each release is signed, and the app checks the signature before it installs anything. A server’s copy of MiniControl updates too, so the app on both ends stays in step.
