Draft for review. This text isn't in force yet.

MiniControl is built so that we don’t need your data. Your Macs talk to each other directly, over your home network or Tailscale. We never see your servers, your ssh keys, your files or what runs on them.

Who we are

MiniControl is made by Mikheil Gigauri, an individual entrepreneur registered in Georgia ([registration number]). Write to hello@minicontrol.app about anything on this page.

The website

  • No cookies and no trackers. Fonts and scripts are served from minicontrol.app itself.
  • Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn’t follow you across sites. We see totals: pages viewed, where visits came from, which countries.
  • Early access list. If you leave your email, we store it, the date you left it and, if you answer the question that follows, what you plan to run on your server (media, AI and so on). We use the address for one thing: telling you when MiniControl is ready to download. We don’t share it or sell it. Ask us and we delete it.
  • Hosting. The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes visitors’ IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

The Mac app

  • No telemetry. The app doesn’t report usage, crashes or anything else to us.
  • Updates. It checks GitHub for new releases and downloads them from there. GitHub sees your IP address when it does.
  • Catalog installs use Homebrew, which downloads from its own servers.
  • Tailscale. If you turn it on, your Macs sign in to Tailscale, under Tailscale’s own privacy policy.
  • Pairing keys and settings stay on your Macs.

Pro

Pro is free during the beta and needs no account yet. Once billing starts:

  • Your account holds your email address and your plan, so your Macs can unlock Pro. You sign in with a link sent to that address.
  • Your licence is refreshed by your Macs once a day.
  • Offline alerts. Each of your servers checks in with us every minute, with a random token, its display name and the time. We keep the server’s name and when it last checked in, nothing else: no IP addresses, no service names, no stats. When a server misses 5 minutes, we email you, and again when it’s back.
  • Payments go through Paddle, our reseller, which handles your payment details under its own privacy policy; we never see your card.

Free never sends any of this.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Write to hello@minicontrol.app. If you’re in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
